Apple Watch Series 4 – Saving Lives In No Time

Apple Watch Series 4 – Saving Lives In No Time

Can an Apple watch really save a life? The answer to this is yes. This advanced technology that you wear on your wrist can actually be of use to your health. This watch is programmed to alert you of high blood pressure, strokes, hard falls, etc. Reminders such as “breathe” is sent to you as it monitors your breathing patterns. If your heart rate goes above 120bpm or lower than  40bpm then you Apple watch will send a notification. There are also motion detectors, meaning if your apple watch feels you’ve taken a hard fall, immediately emergency services will be dialed. If you don’t respond within 1 minute, the watch calls for you and help will be on the way.Image result for apple 4 watch health
Another feature the watch has is the irregular rhythm feature which detects irregular heart rates. There has been quite a few cases where the Apple watch has been proven to work.
For example, a man named David Gilley, 61, living in Atlanta was feeling under the weather. He went to the hospital (his watch told him to) and when he got there he was diagnosed with abnormal heart rate condition.
Another man, Gaston D’aquino, 76,  didn’t even know that 2/3 of his coronary arteries were blocked. The only functioning one had 10 percent of it’s usual capacity.
Ira Flatow’s brother didn’t know that his heart rate was 80 bpm over the average until his watch notified him.
My brother was saved by his Apple Watch. After he felt a rapid heart beat >200 bpm, his watch told him to “go to the hospital.” He did and his tachycardia was diagnosed.
If you’re currently  shopping for new technology, keep this in mind. Investing in buying an Apple watch can also be useful if you’ve been diagnosed with heart issues.  For more information, please visit Apple Watch — Real Stories — Apple
Tim Cook might launch new ‘Apple’s TV service’ this year

Tim Cook might launch new ‘Apple’s TV service’ this year

Apple’s TV service

The long-awaited Apple’s TV service is on this year?

Apple might be planning to launch its own TV service in the first half of 2019. Apple CEO Tim Cook told CNBC’s Mad Money host Jim Cramer in an exclusive interview that the company will announce new “services” this year. While Cook didn’t say what kind of services.

TV Manufacturers are suddenly, mysteriously embracing Apple

At CES 2019, there’s been a series of surprise announcements from TV manufacturers that are suddenly supporting Apple’s AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. They allow you to cast content directly from your iPhone, iPad and Mac. Even the major rivals of Apple, Google and Samsung do this. Furthermore, Samsung will actually support iTunes, too, enabling you to access movies and TV shows from iTunes.

This make us to expect Apple might be ready to pump with those hardware manufacturers for the upcoming TV service.

Then, there’s content: Apple has been spending over $1 billion on original TV content with no obvious platform. Another report suggested that some of those original shows were slated to debut as soon as this March. And another still claimed that those shows might be free for people who own Apple devices. But  it’s not clear yet what other services Apple might be talking about.

Cook also addressed reports that the iPhone XR might not be selling as well as expected, saying that it has still been the most popular iPhone every day since launch. He also said wearable device business is bringing in more money than the iPod ever did. The Apple Watch and AirPods made 50 percent more money than iPod at peak sales.

Siri Gets Much Smarter as Apple’s Investments Pay Off

Siri Gets Much Smarter as Apple’s Investments Pay Off

Apple’s digital assistant, Siri just vaulted past Alexa and Cortana in an 800-question test.

Over the recent few years, voice-controlled digital assistants, like Siri, have popular in our everyday life. For more examples there are Amazon’s Alexa, Alphabet’s Google Assistant, and Microsoft’s Cortana inhabit all kind of electronic devices.

When Siri got back in 2010, this digital darling was revolutionary, but other companies started to follow this new sensation. Plus, Apple didn’t move fast to adapt the artificial intelligence (AI) that powered its digital assistant. On the other hand, competitors invested aggressively and gained acceleration from the beginning.

Over the past couple of years, however, Apple has been working to restore Siri to her former glory. New data released by Loup Ventures shows that Siri is quickly gaining ground.

A comprehensive exam

Longtime Apple follower Gene Munster and fellow analyst Will Thompson set out to test the performance of the digital assistants. These are four of the most widely used smart speakers: Amazon Echo (Alexa), Google Home (Google Assistant), HomePod (Siri), and the Invoke (Cortana) by Harman Kardon, a division of Samsung Electronics.

The process of the test was asking a series of 800 questions to each. They observed how the digital assistants answered the questions which held in five categories.

  • Local: Where is the nearest coffee shop?
  • Commerce: Can you order me more paper towels?
  • Navigation: How do I get to uptown on the bus?
  • Information: Who do the Twins play tonight?
  • Command: Remind me to call Steve at 2 p.m. today.

Dramatic improvement

Siri took second place, and this was just right behind Google Assistant. Also, the report revealed that Siri’s score improved by more than 22 points — more than any other competitor. Siri answered 74.6% of questions correctly, and it is an improvement from the 52.3% tested in February 2018.

The report cites HomePod’s tight integration with Siri on the iPhone and its ability to access email, calendar, and messaging as contributing to its victory in that category. It took second place in three of the remaining four categories, but came in last in the Information segment.

Those investments are paying off

Earlier this year, Apple hired John Giannandrea to let him take the lead its recently reorganized AI, machine learning, and Siri teams.  Also, Giannandrea had got promotion to the  executive team, as senior vice president of machine learning and artificial intelligence strategy.

Apple has long been behind in the AI field, because the company primarily had rigid stance on user privacy. AI uses  large data sets but at the same time, involves transferring user data to the cloud. Apple has been trying to develop alternative ways. For instance, they can process data at the device level, which keeps user data more secure by keeping it out of the cloud.

Slightly bent iPad Pro, but Apple says it’s normal

Slightly bent iPad Pro, but Apple says it’s normal

Apple said the bend didn’t lower the iPad Pro’s performances.

iPad Pro
iPad Pro / Apple

Apple has confirmed that some of 2018 iPad Pros have a very slight bend in the aluminum chassis. But according to the company, this is just a side effect of the device’s manufacturing process. So it doesn’t negatively affect the iPad’s performance. In brief, Apple does not consider it to be a defect. The bend has occurred from a cooling process involving the iPad Pro’s metal and plastic components during manufacturing. Both sizes of the new iPad Pro can exhibit this condition.

Some customers have claimed on their social media that their iPad Pros developed a small bend without any abnormal mistreatment. They believed it happened gradually in everyday use — or after transporting the iPad Pro in a backpack. And other were insistent that their iPad Pro came that way out of the box. Apple is now saying that in some cases, the latter is true.

This situation happens more commonly on the LTE model, as there’s a plastic strip that breaks up the iPad’s flat aluminum sides.

It’s where the antenna line divides two parts of metal, and some users have noticed a bend. Although some owners of the Wi-Fi model also claim to have this situation, but many are straight as designed. Somebody may consider this as a minor problem — not even a problem. But actually perceived issue matters for Apple, beacuse it has been known for its reputation in manufacturing devices.

The customers who had a trouble with bent iPad Pros should be able to get exchange or return their iPad Pro at the Apple Store or other retailers within the 14-day return window. But it’s not clear if swaps will be possible outside that policy. Some employees said there is AppleCare for this kind of situation. However, this system isn’t for just a slight bend which came with initially.

BUT APPLE SAYS THAT CONCERNS OVER THE IPAD PRO’S STRUCTURAL RIGIDITY ARE UNFOUNDED

That confidence shows us that this is not going to be a “bendgate” controversy again. In 2014, there was a similar problem with iPhone 6 Plus. So its next iPhone switched over to a sturdier aluminum. But then, Apple had some trouble dealing with that, eventually launching a repair program. So at this time, Apple might know that trying to assure consumers is important, telling the fuss is over nothing.

An Apple Watch saved a man having irregular heartbeat

An Apple Watch saved a man having irregular heartbeat

When Ed Dentel updated his Apple Watch on Thursday night, he didn’t expect it to upend his weekend, much less change his life.

The 46-year-old communications consultant from Richmond, Virginia, does taekwondo with his family three times a week, bikes and skis frequently. He said he has exercised steadily and had no disease before. And then Apple Watch gave him an alert about his heart irregular heartbeat with the electrocardiogram app.

Ed Dentel received an alert from his Apple watch about an abnormal heart rate. On Friday morning, over breakfast with his 7-year old daughter, he put his watch back on. And the Apple Watch kept saying the same thing even he switches left to right again and again: “AFib.” Then he started to get a little bit alarmed about his health.

Atrial fibrillation, commonly called AFib or AF, is a specific kind of irregular heart rhythm. If left untreated, it can damage heart muscles and increase the risk of stroke. So it’s important to catch the symptoms at the initiatory stage. And this is what Apple Watch did.

Dentel drove to a nearby urgent care center while thinking it’s silly. But the one last time he checked his watch, it said ‘AFib’ again. Even Checking in, Dentel felt like a hypochondriac explaining that his watch told him that his heart has a probem. But after an exact exam, the doctor confirmed his diagnose.

After that Dentel started learning about AFib and what its impact and how important it is to get an early notice of it.

New iPhone Users in for a Surprise

New iPhone Users in for a Surprise

According to the tech site Macotakara, the next generation iPhone will make fast charging incompatible with third party chargers. Apple has added support for ‘C-AUTH’ to its new iPhones’ charging specification; C-AUTH stands for ‘USB Type-C Authentication.’ This means Apple will include a new security check feature that stops fast charging from any third party chargers and cables, unless they have been licensed by Apple.

Apple is not the first to use this feature; it is a safe way to stop dangerous third party cables from damaging your phone, which may result in needing to replace your iPhone in the long run. However, Apple took things a little further by modifying  the current C-AUTH standard. Currently, C-AUTH restricts fast chargers of 18 watts or more down to 5 watts to performance. With its new models, Apple will use C-AUTH to drop all third-party chargers to 2.5W.

Although this may seem like unwelcoming downside for the new iPhone models to come this year, Apple will be pairing their fast chargers with their phones. However, if you ever need an additional fast charger for your phone, you may be looking at $68-84 per charger.

https://www.iphoned.nl/nieuws/ios-12-ipad-pro-face-id/

Apple is releasing new models for the iPad pro. Although the release date is not official, Apple is telling everyone to stay tuned!

Apple has been very busy in 2018 due to their launch of a new education-focused iPad and new Macbook Pro that includes Touchbar models. Apple has plenty more products in store for the future, however, Apple users may have to wait for the production process to keep progressing in order to give us all the answers. Adding onto the latest version of the iPhones coming out in the Fall, Apple will have variations including a pair of new iPad Pros that will launch with new features and upgrades.

Physical Features And Upgrades To Design

The iPad has had a very consistent look to it and that will continue to be the case. Apple will keep the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. The company, however, expects to grant the iPad Pro an iPhone X-like look which will include some new aspects to its design. Apple also says that they will reduce bezel sizes on both the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro variants. However, this will mean different things for the different variations of these models.

According to Ming Chi Kuo, Apple will still have the 10.5-inch iPad Pro and remain the same physical size, but include a screen that is extended in nature. This will mean that consumers will receive an  added screen real estate in the same form factor. According to Kuo, this 10.5-inch model will eventually progress to becoming an 11-inch model due to the reduced bezel sizes.

Moreover, Kuo says that the amount of bezel sizes will reduce in regards to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro but will not increase the display size. The 12.9-inch display will then remain the same way, however, the overall footprint of the device will decrease. This will make it not only more portable, but also very easy to manage.

Apple’s release of iOS 11 has been nothing less than successful. With the release of their new update, Apple has also launched several apps that compliment the new update’s feature. Ever since the release of these apps, there has been an influx in Apple’s app downloads. The soar in app downloads is according to app analytics firm Sensor Tower. Since Apple has created ways to feature apps, more and more Apple users are downloading them.

Apple’s “daily stories,” is in reference to a single app, which includes its daily games and apps.  These apps include becoming a better cook and entertaining kids. By having apps that reach multiple audiences, Apple has increased its amount of downloads.

In more recent news, Apple’s App Store editors made  a daily list called “Does this App Come in Black?”, which highlights the 16 iOS apps which offer a “pure black mode.” This “pure black mode” helps create darker features for the iPhone.

Darker themes are known as being easier to look at. Instead of staring at a bright white background, the darker features are easier on the eyes. This is especially helpful at night or when you are looking at your iPhone in dimmed lighting.

Apple also includes a pure-black mode that serves as an excellent way to take advantage of the gorgeous OLED screen on the iPhone X. This screen has the ability to display far greater contrast than the LCD displays on previous iPhones. The colors appear as being more vibrant, whereas blacks and dark colors appear as being much deeper. If you own the new and latest update for the iPhone, you should try these darker features. They are becoming more and more popular worldwide so make sure you get in on in the action ! For more information on this topic, click here.

https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2018/07/apple-supports-malala-fund-expansion-in-latin-america/

Apple launches a collaboration between its 10 Apple Developer Academies in Brazil and Malala Fund to help progress girls’ education opportunities. The Malala Fund in Latin America is working to provide safe, quality secondary education and opportunities for girls. It will also offer grants to local advocates in Brazil. The advocates at Apple will join Malala Fund’s network of Gulmakai champions and implement projects all over the country. These projects  will feature a design to empower girls, inspire teachers and policymakers to develop their skills through programs, and positively affect school enrollment efforts and advocacy for education.

Malala Fund’s Network

Malala Fund’s network will be challenging the creativity and innovative minds of Apple Developer Academy students and Brazilian alumni. It will also give them the chance to collaborate with Malala Fund to develop and design apps that enhance the education opportunities for girls. This challenge will motivate the students to find ways to better enable Malala Fund’s network of Gulmakai champions around the world.  It will also help Malala to communicate and share best practices in a secure environment.

The Apple Developer Academy’s developers in Rio met Malala Yousafzai on Friday. They spoke with her when she was there to visit the students. She was there to discuss how important the developers are to the fund’s mission to provide education opportunities to girls all over the world.

Apple became Malala Fund’s first Laurete partner in January. Apple did this by enabling the Malala Fund to increase the amount of grants awarded by its Gulmakai Network. They will also fund new programs in India and Latin America. This is with the goal in mind of enhancing the opportunities for secondary education for over 100,000 girls.

Dating back to 2013, more than 3,000 students have gone through this experience at Brazil’s Apple Developer Academy program.  Moreover, there are 500 other students that are currently enrolled in 10 sites. The sites are all across Brasilia, Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo. The scholarship winners include the seventy-five Brazilian students who were present at the Worldwide Developer Conference. For more information on Apple’s support of Malala’s fund, click here.
