What To Do When You Lose Your AirPods

What To Do When You Lose Your AirPods

Most  people lose their earphones every now and then. So if Apple’s AirPods are smaller than regular earphones, why are they easier to find?  They are easier to look for because you can use the Find My IPhone app. Once you turn the app on, you will find your AirPods in no time!

What If My AirPods Are Out Of Range, Not Charged, Or In A Case?

If you lose your AirPods, you can simply sign into iCloud.com or use Find My IPhone to locate them. If they are not close to your other Apple devices, need to be charged, or are in a case, don’t fret! Apple has made it possible to still locate them under those conditions. Once you sign in to iCloud.com or Find My IPhone, you can see your AirPods on a map even if they are not connected at the time. You can see where they are located if they are connected and also where you had them the last time they were connected. Either way, don’t lose hope. Apple has thought of all of the ways to help you track down your AirPods.

Besides looking at them on iCloud or Find My IPhone, you can also play a sound. If your AirPods are connected to Bluetooth, then you can play a sound to help you locate them. The sound volume increases for two minutes or until you say “Stop.” You can play the sound on any other Apple device and it will help you find them.

What Happens If My AirPods Are Offline?

Are your AirPods offline? Did you forget to turn on Find My IPhone before you lost them? If so, then you must  wait to see if they come back online. Once they are online, the other Apple devices you use them with will give you a notification. However, there is nothing you can do until they get back online.

If your AirPods seem to not be coming back online, then you can contact Apple Support for a replacement. Apple Support will tell you more about the options you have for replacing them with new ones.

Although AirPods are smaller than regular earphones, they can be difficult to lose permanently . If you lost your AirPods, follow this advice and find them as soon as possible. If you didn’t lose them but are scared you will someday, take action. Turn on Find My IPhone for your AirPods and avoid future stress! For more information, click here

Everyone Can Code: Bringing Coding To Everyone

Everyone Can Code: Bringing Coding To Everyone

In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day on May 17, Apple is hosting events nationwide to promote inclusive design and to show how beneficial technology can be for people with disabilities. One of these programs include working with blind and deaf communities across the US in order to bring accessible coding to schools. Starting in the fall, schools supporting disabilities will start teaching the Everyone Can Code curricula for Swift, Apple’s powerful new programming language.

Apple created the Everyone Can Code curriculum so students of all ages could learn and write code using Swift. Teachers could guide young students using iPads with Swift Playground installed, allowing them to use simple code to solve puzzles and control animated characters, whereas older developers could use the same program for app development within iOS.

The Everyone Can Code curriculum is also compatible with VoiceOver, the most advanced screen-reading technology available for people who are blind or low vision. This program describes nearly everything occurring on the screen, and is

the most popular screen-reading technology of any mobile platform. Other accessibility features available to people who are deaf or hard of hearing include Type to Siri, closed captions, LED Flash for Alerts, Mono Audio, and Made for iPhone hearing aids. iPad and Everyone Can Code can also be used by students that have physical motor limitations by using Apple’s Switch Control, which allows devices such as joysticks and switches to control what is on the screen.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, states “Apple’s mission is to make products as accessible as possible. We created Everyone Can Code because we believe all students deserve an opportunity to learn the language of technology. We hope to bring Everyone Can Code to even more schools around the world serving students with disabilities.”

Apple Refreshes Privacy Controls

Apple Refreshes Privacy Controls

Although Apple is known to have several cloud scandals in the past regarding sharing data, recently they have been stricter with protecting their consumers. The latest in their efforts to keep data safe is going through applications that share data with third parties. Apple has been removing those applications once they are found to have violations as well as informing developers that the app violates two parts of the App Store Review Guidelines.

Apple also explains that developers must remove any code, frameworks, or SDKs that relate to the violation before the app can be resubmitted to the App Store.

Apple is also bringing refreshed privacy controls for its devices and iCloud services in order to meet the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) laws, going into effect on May 25. The new privacy settings will also include a new web page for managing Apple IDs, with new features and capabilities as well as more transparency. The new site will also let users download a copy of all data stored within the company, along with being able to correct personal information, temporarily deactivate their account, and completely delete it. These new features will soon be available to the rest of the world.

“Do Not Disturb While Driving” Feature Helps Bad Habits

“Do Not Disturb While Driving” Feature Helps Bad Habits

According to EverQuote’s Safe Driving Report, there are about 92% of US drivers that use their phone while driving, while about 88 seconds are spent on mobile devices during an average 21-minute ride.

To change this dangerous habit that almost every driver has, Apple created a new “Do Not Disturb While Driving” feature, which had launched with its iOS 11 update in September 2017. From September to October, about 80% of drivers used this feature, although 27% of users disabled it after the initial use. This feature works by blocking all notifications from appearing onscreen while the user is driving, until they reach their destination. This way, drivers are less inclined to look at their phones because they cannot see their notifications.

Due to users taking advantage of this feature, the phone usage while driving decreased about 8%. Although it wasn’t a significant decrease, the iPhone feature is helping drivers stop their bad habits of checking their texts, email and social media, which decreases the number accidents caused by phone usage while driving.

Apple’s Newest Rumored Releases

Apple’s Newest Rumored Releases

There have been multiple rumors from various sources about Apple’s newest products, including the  AirPower, next-generation AirPods, Apple Watch Series 4, a low-cost iPad, and three new iPhone models, just to name a few!

If you’re unfamiliar with the AirPower, it is a charging mat that will be able to charge up to three devices that use Qi charging at once, such as the iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch. The next-generation rumored AirPods are expected to release alongside the charging mat, which will feature wireless charging as opposed to the charging case, better Bluetooth connectivity, and possibly new colors. However, nothing is yet confirmed.

As the Apple Watch has not seen a redesign since it was first introduced in 2015,  2018 could be the year that Apple introduces a new look for the wrist-worn device, Mac Rumors suggest. Apple will perhaps use micro-LED displays for the 2018 Apple Watch, which would allow for a thinner, lighter display with improved color gamut and brightness. New sensors could also be in store, as Apple has been testing EKG functionality for the Apple Watch. The feature would require users to place two fingers on either side of the Apple Watch to record the electrical activity of the heart to better detect irregularities, however it is not known if this functionality will be ready to debut in 2018.

With the rumor that Apple could introduce an even lower-cost iPad in 2018 than 2017 (its 5th-generation 9.7-inch iPad for $329 for the 32GB model) with a price tag that starts at $259, it would allow them to better compete in the lower cost tablet market.

Finally, three new iPhone models are rumored to be releasing later this year. The first iPhone expected is a followup to the iPhone X with the same 5.8-inch OLED display, which will be accompanied by a second OLED iPhone measuring in at 6.5 inches; it can be thought of as an “iPhone X Plus.” Alongside these two OLED iPhones, Apple is also said to be planning to introduce a 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display, positioned as a more affordable device targeting the low-end and midrange markets with a starting price of $649 to $749 in the United States. According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, all three of these iPhones will feature edge-to-edge displays, Face ID, and TrueDepth camera systems, which means the end of both the Home button and the Touch ID fingerprint sensor in new iPhone models for the time being.

Although many of these products are still in the works or rumored, we are all hoping to see what Apple has in store for 2018!

Take Your Medical Records With You – Everywhere

Take Your Medical Records With You – Everywhere

With the upcoming release of Apple’s iOS update this spring, the Health app will now include health records, so patients can take information about their immunizations, medications, lab results and more with them on the go. The feature will first be available to patients of medical providers who partnered with Apple, including Johns Hopkins Medicine, OhioHealth, Ochsner Health System in Jefferson Parish, La., and Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles; Apple’s announcement says more medical facilities will offer this feature in the coming months.

With this added feature to the app, transferring information will be easier for patients who have to move or go to a specialist. Patients will be able to see records such as conditions, immunizations, visits and medication they’ve received in the past, which won’t allow them to make the mistake of taking something that hasn’t worked for them.

Because patients no longer have to enter or scan their own data, this makes it simpler to use, which will create a wide user base. The 21st Century Cures Act of 2016  also pushed federal agencies and providers to use electronic health records; now there is a data standard for personal health records, which wasn’t the case in 2011 when Google Health tried to use a similar health record service.

Conspiracies about the new Apple Watch all led to be true. Gone are the days of panicking whenever you leave your phone at home. The new Apple Watch Series 3 now allows LTE connectivity so for phone-forgetters or phone-haters, you can now find comfort in disconnecting from your phone for a while.

We’ve all been in a situation where we felt like we just didn’t want to carry our phones, want to leave it to charge when we grocery shop, or just wanting to feel free from our technological ties. Well, continue reading to learn about the new Apple watch and how it can make this completely possible.
